Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 away from home in the Premier League, with Trent putting in a man of the match performance as the Reds took all three points.

Liverpool’s Premier League goalscoring drought is finally over! The champions of England put three past Jose Mourinho’s side on the road, with Trent Alexander-Arnold scoring and assisting as Liverpool took all three points for the first time in 2021.

Trent spoke to Liverpoolfc.com after picking up the man of the match award and spoke about the importance of the result.

On whether this is the performance that the team have needed in the last few weeks…

“At the end of the day we are a team that likes to perform well but it’s a results business and we want to be getting wins. We haven’t been able to get that in the last four or five games, so it was good to put things right and do it in a way like we did.”

On his goal…

“I’ve just gambled a little bit, hoping that the ‘keeper would parry it. He did and I was there to tuck it away.”

“It’s been a while since I scored and it felt good to get back on the scoresheet again. I felt good out there tonight. I felt like I was back at my best and was able to influence the game like I wanted to.”

On the title race in general…

“It’s been a poor run of results, which we can’t really afford, so it was important for us to come here and get a result. We wanted to come here and take the three points and we’ve been able to do that with an unbelievable performance from the lads.”
